Jennie Hughes is a native of Wichita, Kansas who is now an NYC based actress. She grew up in small town Augusta, KS where she first learned of her love for the theater. Since being cast in a children's theatre musical in 7th grade, Jennie has been performing as frequently as she can manage. Throughout high school and college Jennie performed in many musicals and plays, also she was fortunate enough to assist her educators in choreography and direction. Highlights from high school and college include: Performing in Anything Goes- Reno Sweeney, Dames at Sea- Mona Kent, and Into the Woods- Baker's Wife; Choreographing You're A Good Man Charlie Brown; and Directing an original play titled: Core of Temptation.
Since moving to NYC, Jennie has participated in a number of theatrical productions including a reading of a new musical directed by Jeff Whiting called Hope for the Flowers: book by Eric Holmes, music and lyrics by Nat Zegree, her Off-Broadway debut as The Violinist in the new musical Freefall Frostbite, and playing Mom in Harry the Dirty Dog with ArtsPower National Touring Theatre. Jennie has also started to break into the cabaret scene producing, directing, and performing in "Almost There" and "Woman" at The Duplex this past year.
Jennie spent the first half of this year touring the country with ArtsPower National Touring Theatre performing in Amber Brown Is Not A Crayon. After the tour finished in May, Jennie was off to Paris, IL to choreograph a production of Mamma Mia directed by Stuart Metcalf. The production nearly sold out each performance and was a local hit. Jennie recently made her NYC directorial debut with ArtsPower National Touring Theatre's world premier show Judy Moody and Stink. This show is currently on tour and set to tour internationally in Spring 2020. Jennie is now rehearsing for A is for Audra: The Musical with The 92st Y in NYC as well as curating and performing in new works throughout the city.
